We’re excited to announce that Tim Frazier is joining the team as our new VP of Government Programs.

This is a major hiring milestone for Aalo. Previously VP of Government Programs at GE Hitachi, and subsequently VP of Strategic Partnerships at Zeno Power, Tim brings years of top experience, connections, management, and knowledge to our growing team.

Read on to learn more about Tim’s background in government, nuclear, and how he intends to help push Aalo forward.

Tim’s Story

Tim worked 22+ years with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and has spent the last few years paving the way for advanced nuclear.

Tim served as the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships at Zeno Power Systems – a commercial radioisotope power system supplier.  There he built on his decades of experience in managing and delivering radioisotope power systems while at the DOE.  He leveraged his industry and government experience, credibility and connections to help win NASA funding to advance Zeno’s Am-241 Stirling power system, known as Harmonia, to TRL-6. Tim will remain a valued Senior Advisor at Zeno.

Prior to Zeno, as VP of Government Programs at GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, now GE Vernova, Tim was responsible for developing and expanding GE portfolio of government programs, contracts, and small modular reactors.  Tim was involved in the preparation of Natrium proposal for the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program.  He used his government experience and insight to review the selection criteria and provided his input on the proposal.  Natrium (comprised of GE and TerraPower) was selected for the demonstration program.

In 2014, Tim established TAFrazier LLC.  Under TAFrazier LLC, Tim’s clients included: Bipartisan Policy Center, Columbia University, the DOE, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, NASA, Canadian Nuclear Partners (part of Ontario Power Generation), the Institute for Defense Analysis, advanced reactor entrepreneurs, Deep Isolation, the Global American Business Institute, and, most recently Core Synergy LLC.

Prior to establishing TAFrazier LLC, Tim was a senior advisor at Dickstein Shapiro LLP (now Blank Rome). There, he advised Japanese and U.S. interests on nuclear policy and technical issues stemming from the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.  He also worked with clients and stakeholders on the implementation of key legislative and commercial recommendations of the President’s Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future.

In his last position at DOE, Tim was appointed by Secretary of Energy Chu as the Designated Federal Officer (DFO) for the Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future (BRC), a 15-member commission established by President Obama in January 2010 to develop a new plan for nuclear waste disposal.  A final report was delivered in January 2012.  During this effort, Tim built strong relationships with high-level government officials in energy, industry and communities throughout the US.

When appointed as the DFO for the BRC, Tim served as acting Director of the Office of Policy, Integration, and Communication, where he led policy support, including policy review, recommendations and implementation, identification of crosscutting issues and integration across the Office of Nuclear Energy (NE), planning and analysis for strategic planning, as well as internal and external relations and congressional affairs.

During his career at the DOE/NE headquarters he held senior positions at DOE the areas of nuclear energy, nuclear policy, backend of the nuclear fuel cycle, non-proliferation, advanced reactors and small modular reactors, space nuclear power, and congressional, state, and stakeholder communications.  He supported DOE/NE as senior technical advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy, acting associate deputy assistant secretary for the Office of Fuel Cycle Management, under which the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership was managed, and Program Director of Space Power System program.

Plans for Aalo

In his new role with Aalo, Tim is poised to make an immediate and significant impact, unlocking doors through his extensive network. With his stellar reputation in the nuclear community, he will dedicate his time to nurturing high-leverage government and industry relationships, setting the stage for Aalo's growth.

As we work towards major deployment milestones, Tim's goal is our collective goal: to build Aalo into a leading clean energy company, driving towards deeper collaboration with the government. It will take a collective, public and private efforts for nuclear to live up to its full potential.
