We're excited to share some big news: Aalo Atomics is opening a new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas!
Our new 40,000-square-foot facility is halfway between downtown Austin and the airport, making it an ideal location for employees, guests, events, and one day soon, shipping reactors all across the country. Located close to tech giants like SpaceX and Tesla, we're perfectly positioned to attract top talent in the area.
This new HQ isn't just an office—it's where we'll build our experimental nuclear microreactor, the Aalo-X, and eventually manufacture our core product, the Aalo-1, in a state-of-the-art reactor factory. This marks the beginning of a new era for Aalo!
Why did we choose Austin as the home for our new headquarters? It's simple–Texas is the energy hub of the United States.
With a tech-friendly regulatory environment and a rich history of energy leadership, from oil and gas to renewables and nuclear, Texas is the perfect spot for ushering in the Second Atomic Age. The ERCOT grid is uniquely well positioned to work with nuclear microreactors as novel distributed energy resources. The Texas Nuclear Working Group and other state-level pro-nuclear initiatives provide a supportive framework for our operations.
And it’s worth noting, we'll be the first and only nuclear company headquartered in Texas.
We are aiming to do for nuclear reactors what Henry Ford did for cars. Right now, many utilities are shying away from building large nuclear plants, because of the uncertainty in cost and schedule. By making reactors in factories, we’ll make the process repeatable, predictable, and decrease costs in the process.
Our Austin factory HQ is where we’ll focus not only on building the Aalo-1, but the factory line to produce these reactors by the dozens per year. The factory line is a product in itself, and it underscores our focus on factory manufacturability from day 1. Aalo-1 is designed to be simple to manufacture, easy to transport, and produce electricity affordably. In the long term, we want nuclear energy to be accessible to everyone, not just the developed nations.
By mass-producing the Aalo-1, we'll drive down costs like the automobile assembly line did for cars. And since we're creating a US supply chain for our reactors, our growth will benefit Texas and the entire US economy.
We're harnessing the expertise of the country-wide deep-tech and local oil and gas workforce to build Aalo brick by brick.
Join us as we make nuclear energy affordable and accessible for everyone from the heart of Texas.
Big things are coming! And please do come say hi next time you’re in town 👋
